After overcoming an eating disorder, Kana Sugamoto dedicated her life to traveling Japan with only a rice cooker and an insatiable desire to connect with people through warm, freshly made rice balls. What moves so many people about an ordinary onigiri, made simply with rice and water? The film explores this answer through the landscapes, encounters, and quiet conversations that unfold on her journey.

We eat every day, yet rarely pause to consider what it truly means. Through the unique world of onigiri—warm, fleeting, and alive—the film asks a quiet question: what are we really hungering for?
Profile
2013年よりテレビ業界でキャリアをスタートし、ドキュメンタリーや旅番組を中心に、監督・撮影・編集を手がける。約10年間ニューヨークを拠点に活動し、異なる文化や価値観をつなぐ物語を紡いできた。2021年、映像制作会社mimosa合同会社を共同設立。ドキュメンタリーを軸に、テレビ番組やブランディングムービーの企画・制作を手がける。短編ドキュメンタリー『たゆたい（Floating in Between）』でSSFF & ASIA 2023優秀賞を受賞。2026年にはATMOVIE GLOBAL TRACKフェローに選出され、初の長編ドキュメンタリー映画『OMUSUBI』を企画・監督している。
